Hospitals in California Fined

The California Department of Public Health fined 18 hospitals for state health code violations in which patients died. Each hospital was fined $25,000. Kathleen Billingsley, the director of the health department’s Center for Healthcare Quality, stated “The number of penalties will decrease and the quality of care will dramatically improve as hospitals take action to improve.”

The violations ranged from a ventilator that was not turned on to patient who fell from a wheelchair that was not fastened in a seatbelt. The state in total has issued 61 penalties for violations.

Young Girl Injured in Dog Attack

A five year old girl in Marshfield, MA, is in the hospital after being attacked by her grandfather’s dog on Tuesday afternoon. She suffered serious bites to her face, near her left eye and other parts of her head. The girl and her 8 year old sister were visiting her grandfather from their home in Plymouth when the attack occurred. A helicopter carried the injured girl to Massachusetts General Hospital. Segway, Inc Facing Lawsuits

Spinal Injection Leads to Personal Injury and $10 Million in Compensation
