Segway, Inc, maker of the upright scooter-like vehicle of the name name, has faced a dozen lawsuits so far filed by customers who claim to have been injured by faulty products. Segway has declared two recalls since the company began, one in 2003 because of Segways that suddenly stopped once their batteries ran out, and once in 2006 when software glitches were causing some scooters to suddenly move backwards. The company has largely remained silent about the lawsuits.

One of the most recent lawsuits was filed by Rick Wagner in May 2007. Wagner claims he and his son were riding new Segways home from a Sam’s Club when his suddenly reversed, causing him to fall and break his neck.

A Mosinee man has been awarded $10 million in damages after suffering a great deal of pain following a hospital procedure. Larry Schultz, the injured man and former nuclear pharmacist, was awarded $5 million for his pain and suffering alone. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1988 and has been receiving treatments for it ever since. In 2006, he returned to St. Luke’s Medical Center to have a drug injected into his spine in order to relieve spasticity caused by the disease.

Two drugs were injected that day, Baclofen and Reno-60, however, court documents revealed that Reno-60 is not meant to be used as an intrathecal injection, meaning it is not meant to be injected into the spine.

This crucial mistake lead to serious injuries for Schultz, leading to severe spasticity, seizures, and neurological damage. Shultz was forced to use a wheelchair as a result of the painful injuries.

Daniel Rottier of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. represented the man throughout his terrible ordeal and was able to assist him in receiving the compensation that he deserves for his injuries.

A woman slipped in a Walgreens pharmacy store, causing serious injuries. Sharon Robinson, the woman who fell, was walking near the cosmetics counter when she lost her balance on a wet floor and fell.

Robinson is suing the store for failing to properly follow safety procedures, which include making sure that the floor is dry and safe to walk on. Robinson claims the store’s negligence in the matter is the cause of her injuries. She also claims that the store failed to display any kind of warning sign to let customers know that the floor in that area was wet and failed to warn customers that a cleaning substance had been used that would make the floor unsafe to navigate.

Robinson claims to have suffered injuries to her back, neck, and shoulders. She seeks compensation for the lost wages, disability, pain and suffering, and medical expenses that she had to ensure as a result of her injury.
